Hingham Turkey Trot
Thanksgiving morning was the annual Hingham Turkey Trot. In the past my dad and I have gotten up early and enjoyed a light jog together. This year unfortunately, Dad took a break from running after Falmouth. My friends are usually (always?) sleeping in due to a bit too much fun the night before, so this year I’d be running alone. It was bitter cold so many people stayed in the Hingham High...

hot yoga at Pure Yoga
Last week I saw that Pure Yoga was offering a weekend of free classes. I immediately shot an email out to a few girlfriends to see if they’d want to check it out. S said she was in (one of the many reasons I adore her, she’s up for everything!) so I RSVPed us for the Saturday afternoon hot yoga class. We got to the studio and immediately felt out of place. It was beautiful.  We kept...

ING NYC Marathon 2010 - the day after
I woke up Monday morning a bit before my alarm. I hesitated before moving, wondering whether each movement would hurt. I was so happy to feel that it didn’t! Sure, I was a bit sore, but nothing terrible. My knee hurt so I decided to ice some more before starting the day. My boss told me I could come in a bit late, so I decided to stop by Niketown because they were offering massages and free...

ING NYC Marathon 2010 - race day recap
Here it was, the big day. The marathon was scheduled for the morning after daylight savings time so, needless to say, I was very concerned about my alarm working properly. I always only use my phone, but never have had to wake up for anything this important! The night before I downloaded a program that would turn on my iTunes as an alarm. I woke up anxiously a few times around 3 and 4 am but was...

how to find me tomorrow
Well the big day is almost here. Today I will be spending some time with my family and try to rest while also entertaining, should be a challenge, but one I’m willing to tackle. I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am. I keep seeing photos of the race and it’s getting me so excited.  Lots of places have great tips for spectators, including the New York Times and New...

Cocktails for Camp Casey
Last night was my Cocktails for Camp Casey fundraiser at the Hairy Monk. Some of my best friends in NYC came out to support me and the cause. It was really very touching. Everyone gave the $10 donation which allowed them to get discounted drinks for two hours. We had a lot of fun and got to relax on a rainy evening. After the fundraiser, I have about doubled my goal of $1000! So exciting! To...

last run!
Thursday morning was my last run before the big day. It got off to a slightly bad start - pressed snooze only to have my alarm not go off again and then when I realized it, I spastically knocked over a half full 24oz water tumbler. Oops. Oh well. Once I got out there, the two mile run went quickly. It was sprinkling but by heading north for just a mile I was able to stay underneath the FDR and...

countdown is on
Holy smokes. The NYC Marathon is 5 days from today. Holy smokes. I cannot believe it’s finally here. I’m not really nervous, just very eager! I read something the other day that keeps repeating in my mind - “nothing you do this week will help you, anything you do this week could hurt you.” While I’m not sure the first part is true, the second part has me a bit...
