Last weekend B went out to Portland to visit friends from college who work at Nike and raided the employee store. He very generously brought me back a whole bunch of swag. In addition to two new pairs of Nike Frees, in very fresh colors according to him, he got me two pairs of shorts, two t’s and a tank. I especially love the “always on the run” graphic t-shirt. It looks like a shirt he would wear but it’s in my size!
This morning I tested out the gray frees, black shorts and matching blue top on a run in the rain. I ran along the tip of Manhattan and what started as a drop here and there turned into a fairly steady shower. In Battery Park I took a turn and headed to the Wall Street gym where I put in some time on the elliptical before running home. The new kicks felt great and I looked pretty snazzy in my new outfit. Thanks B!

Today I rushed over to the Marathon Expo between client meetings. NYRR had shuttles that left from Grand Central which made the trip to the west side much easier. When I got to the expo, there were Disney style length lines - lots of twists and turns and then suddenly you see even more lines! But it was so efficiently run that we went through fairly quickly. Once inside, I grabbed my number and then my technical T. I lamely stressed a bit over the size, tech shirt sizes are so varied, sometimes I’m a small, other times and XS or a M. These looked big so I decided to grab and XS, I chose properly and it fit great! I waited a bit to walk into the expo, hoping to grab some more free swag, but it was mostly things for purchase. I decided to scoot out and get back to work. Thank goodness I left when I did, because on the shuttle back I got a call about a work meeting. Despite knowing I need to rest, I pretty much sprinted from 42nd and 3rd to 47th and Fifth. It was interesting. Overall, great expo. I wish I had more time and moolah to grab stuff, but hopefully I can pick up a jacket after I’ve completed the marathon. Less than 36 hours til the start! So excited!
